About Us

Let’s go back twenty two years to when I was a young man trying to not only find a job, but also a career. Through hard work and perseverance I was able to start my own successful business. As the years passed I realized I had a passion for something deep inside of me, and it was evolving. Where did it come from? How did it get there? And what am I going to do about it? The passion was food and I loved everything about it. I love how it tastes, how it smells, how it looks, how its made, and where it comes from.

Buon appetito

My parents emigrated from Italy and as such food has always been a big part of my life and culture. However, I didn’t pay much attention to the process of making it while growing up and did not understand why my parents were always so adamant about quality and making everything fresh and homemade. Well it turns out I had paid more attention than I thought! I quickly learned that not everyone grew up with fresh, homemade cuisine at home and I wanted to share this passion of food with everybody. But I couldn’t just open a restaurant could I? I had responsibilities to my family and employees, let alone mortgages and debt. Like many of us life got in the way and my dream was put on the backburner until one special day, when I spoke to my younger cousin at a family function. Turns out that blood is thicker than water as he shared the same passion as I do for food! Michael had just completed culinary school and had been working hard as a chef. He told me during that conversation that he too had a dream to one day open his own restaurant. That was all I needed to hear. It was music to my ears to hear what passion and motivation this young man had. We decided to pursue our dreams of opening a restaurant together and The Crazy Tomato Trattoria was born.

What could be more common in Italian culinary culture than a tomato? We put it on pizza and we put it on pasta. It gets sundried, baked, boiled, smoked, stewed, breaded, stuffed, and fried. It's put in salads, sliced in sandwiches, and made into ketchup. Alll of these variations create very different tastes and experiences with amazing results. What else could you call an Italian restaurant but The Crazy Tomato? Although both The Crazy Tomato Trattoria and Italian culinary culture offer so much variety, we must pay homage to this simple fruit (yes it's a fruit!, but we'll call it a vegetable). It has inspired and created so many wonderful dishes that are enjoyed by millions of people around the world. Come share our passion and let’s break bread together.
